Managers Monthly Update-April Activities
- CAT 950H Wheeled Loader—mechanical orientation and operator training completed by Caterpillar representative on 4/8.
- RPM L220 Snowblower—operator training by RPM representative complete on 4/13.
- April Fuel Sales $47,311.03 vs March Sales of $53,581.12
- Vacant Hangers as of the end of April--8 (X-1 and 7 North facing)
- Jan. Snow Storm Damage Recap:
- Major hanger damage repair completed
- Minor hanger repairs on-going to Skylights
- Electrical repairs completed
- Cal EMA investigation is on-going of the claim filed with San Bernardino County Emergency Services for disaster relief. Provided cost of snow removal for emergency evacuations, administrative cost to file claim and details of repair performed on airport due to snow damage.
- Check received from SDRMA for runway/taxiway light damage from Dec. 2008 storm ($18,300)
- Evergreen requested a meeting in mid-May with airport representatives to finalize the terms and conditions of the agreement that must accompany the condo map filing.
- Finalized terms of contract to convert a portion of credit card processing with new vendor—will save District approximately $800 per year.
- Continued work on filing claim for reimbursement from State for preparation of agendas and minutes (potential refund $20,000-$40,000). SB90 State Mandated Cost Recovery Program “Brown Act Reform”
- Awaiting approval of Federal Assistance Application AIP 18 ($1,519,777). The AIP funding is part of the FAA continuing budget resolution that was just passed by Congress. Low bid vendor (Vance Corporation) has agreed to extend bid price until 5/28.
- Filed necessary paperwork to comply with California Air Resource Board (CARB) regulations concerning emissions from airport equipment.
- BBCFD inspector determined that aircraft fueling must be completed at least 25 feet from any structure. Fueling procedures amended accordingly.
- Authorized expenditure of approximately $600 for evaluation by hanger structural engineer to determine structural integrity of airport hangers affected by the snow load of this past winter’s storms.
- Continuing work on snow removal plan
- Continuing work on employee training documentation
- Received timer and lights for speakers at Board Meetings.
- Held meeting with airport engineering services firm (Mead & Hunt) to provide information on Big Bear Airport. This firm may bid on engineering service contract when Rodger Sheraton retires (after AIP 19). They offered to provide (free of charge) drawings of their concept of Snow Removal Equipment Storage Facility.
