February 11, 2015 – Big Bear, CA – 2014 was an outstanding year for the Big Bear Airport District. From fuel sales to rental cars, and grant dollars to public meetings, here’s a look at last year’s activities at the airport.
Number of public airport meetings: 55
Dollars in grant money awarded: $436,000
Gallons of fuel sold: 151,862
Square feet of terminal donated to airport: 24,013
Number of new airport tenants: 20
Number of children flown on Young Eagle flights: 202 children on 150 flights
Number of Life Flight operations: 156
Number of cars rented: 1,200
Number of third-party events hosted at the airport: 8
New Facebook fans acquired: 178
Acres of airfield pavement plowed after every snow storm: 5.35
Airport’s annual economic impact: $9 million
“The numbers help tell a great story,” said Julie Smith, President of the Big Bear Airport District Board of Directors. “The airport is an integral part of so many aspects in the community—providing jobs and emergency access and even hosting last year’s prom—and these statistics are a great way to share how we’ve been able to contribute to the region.”
